Love Island fans have accused producers of “rigging” the show around Joey Essex.
The TOWIE star was shocked to realise that he had previously hooked up with new arrival Emma Milton.
During Monday night’s episode, the original boys were shocked as the Casa Amor girls arrived at the main villa.
In the morning while the main Villa boys are speaking in the bedroom, six new girls – Diamanté, Ellie, Emma, Jessica, Lucy and Ruby – arrived in the garden and get ready to mingle.
New arrival Emma said: “They’re taking too long, I’m going to go wake them up, girls!”
Walking into the boys’ bedroom, Emma announced: “Good morning boys. Hi… how are you all? You’re looking a bit tired. No words? Get your swim shorts on and get out, we’re all waiting for you.”
Joey reacted: “No, no, no, no…. Bro, I know her. I know her, bro.”
Ayo laughed: “Bloody hell, you know everyone, bro!”
Returning to the girls Emma said: “Guys, they have lost their minds.”
Ahead of her arrival in the villa, Emma revealed that she and Joey had a fling together a few years ago and that she would be interested in revisiting their romance.
However, Emma also added that she was friends with Joey’s former flame Grace Jackson, who he only just called things off with.
She said: “I had a brief thing with Joey a few years ago. We’ve been friends for years and I would be open to reconnecting with Joey.”
“We get on really well and we have a lot of mutual friends. I am also friends with Grace in Manchester, so it’s a little bit awkward.”
Chatting together later on, Joey tried to act coy with Emma and said: “The last time I saw you was where?” as Emma awkwardly replied: “It was in Essex…”
However, viewers at home were unimpressed with the revelation, as they pointed out that Emma wasn’t the first bombshell that Joey had a previous connection with.
Joey had previously dated Grace last summer, after they met in Ibiza and continued their romance back home before they eventually split over long distance.
Fans took to X to blast the producers for turning the show into TOWIE or Ex On the Beach.
One user said: “Did the Love Island producers just go through who Joey follows on insta?”
“Joey is UNREAL why does he know everyone on the planet; Producers need to stop putting Joey at the centre of everything. Another bombshell he knows? Yeah, it’s getting a lil played out.”
