Rebecca Ferguson has been asked to sing at Donald Trumps inauguration ceremony – and people are seriously confused.
The former X Factor star has not been in the charts for quite some time, so the public are confused as to why she was asked to sing at the event.
The mother-of-three said that she would accept the invitation on one condition, that she would be allowed to sing the song Strange Fruit.
The song was recorded by Billie Holiday in 1939 and covered by Nina Simone in 1965. It is one of the nation’s most famous songs about racism.
It has been reported that Trump has been turned down by the likes of Elton John, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, KISS and Celine Dion.
At Barack Obama’s first inaugural ball in 2009, he and Michelle Obama shared their first dance as president and first lady to Beyoncé singing At Last.
Also performing that night were supporters Jay Z, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, and a host of others.
The people of Twitter have had their say on how they feel about her being asked:
Rebecca Ferguson has cleverly put Donald Trump in an impossible position with her determination to sing Strange Fruit at the inauguration.

The temptation to accept, then sing The Wheels On The Bus Go Round and Round, would be great. https://t.co/Nl3XdgjkQ3
