WATCH: Irish YouTuber shares powerful message about homelessness

Clisare's latest video highlights the current crisis in Ireland

Irish YouTuber Clisare, real name Clare Cullen, has shared a powerful message about homelessness.

The comedian is just one of the many who have spoken out about the homeless crisis in Ireland, including Glen Hansard who has joined Hozier, Kodaline and many other famous faces in support of Home Sweet Home, an organisation that’s attempting to tackle homelessness in Ireland.

The Home Sweet Home campaign houses those without shelter and they recently took over NAMA-controlled building Apollo House – but sadly, many have been evicted as Dublin City Council plans to demolish the vacant building.

In her latest video, Clare played the part of a homeless person and lists what she received for Christmas, listing items that would be donated to homeless shelters in the run up to Christmas.

“The first thing that I got is one of these thermal insulation hats, the second thing I got were some tampons and the last thing I got is this blanket,” the Mayo native said.

“I also got an eviction notice from Apollo House which is where I’ve been living in the run up to Christmas, but it’s okay, I’m sure they needed it for something,” she said, highlighting just how tough life is for homeless people around the festive season.
