Love Island contestant Harriett Blackmore addresses backlash over unearthed clip on social media

Love Island contestant Harriett Blackmore has addressed the backlash she’s received over an unearthed clip of her doing the rounds on social media.

The 24-year-old is one of 12 new Islanders entering the iconic villa this weekend, before the series returns to our screens on Monday, June 3rd.

In the since-deleted video, Harriett can be seen trying to diffuse a situation after the person filming the video confronted her male friend over his alleged behaviour.

Speaking to RadioTimes.com before her stint on the show, Harriett said she hasn’t seen the video since it went viral as she doesn’t have access to her phone.

However, the Brighton native explained: If you guys have seen it you can obviously see all I’m trying to do is diffuse the situation.

“It was actually one of my really good friends who is in the public eye, he’s a football player. And these fans and, like, people were sort of antagonising him.”

Harriett insisted she and her friends were “just trying to enjoy our night” and she didn’t think it was “fair” for someone to be “putting cameras in his face”.

“There is nothing really to say about that. I was just trying to mediate the situation [and] get them away from him,” she added.

The dancer and personal shopper also confirmed she is only recently single, but said: “That door closed and then this one opened. And that’s why I’m here.”

Harriett also promised to “bring the drama” to the Love Island villa.

She said: “For the boys, entertainment, a bit of fun and flirting. I’ll definitely up the flirting. For the girls, I’m a really good friend.”

“I’ll bring the entertainment for everyone in the Villa, whether that’s making the girls laugh or making the boys turn their heads, I’m sure that I’ll bring the drama.”
