Love Island hit by hundreds of Ofcom complaints following shock dumping

Love Island was hit by hundreds of Ofcom complaints following a shock dumping.

During an episode of the hit ITV show that aired June 18th, fan favourite Samantha Kenny was brutally dumped from the villa following Joey Essex having chosen to recouple with his ex Grace Jackson.

Fans expressed outrage over the makeup artist’s exit from the villa with many going as far as to complain to Ofcom.

The Liverpool native lost her place on the show after she was left single in the recoupling, leaving her best friend in the villa Nicole Samuel in floods of tears.

The makeup artist had been coupled up with Joey Essex, but their romance hit the rocks when his former flame Grace Jackson entered the villa as a bombshell over the weekend.

The exes wasted no time in rekindling their romance as Grace invited Joey to join her in Casa Amor for a “sleepover”, leaving Samantha heartbroken.

In upsetting scenes, Samantha threatened to walk out of the villa as Joey and Grace returned from Casa Amor and kissed in front of her and the rest of the Islanders.

Ofcom received 121 complaints filed in the immediate aftermath of the episode.

Samantha spoke to host Maya Jama on Aftersun and confessed she felt like a “placeholder” and suggested Joey knew Grace was coming in.

She admitted: “I had a chat with him one day where he literally said you never know who might come through the door and I was like ‘oh, OK.'”

“And that’s when I was like, my toes curled and I tensed up.”

Her claims were backed up by fellow dumped islander Munveer Jabbal – who claimed his co-star was “livid” over the situation.

Speaking to FUBAR Radio he said: “She just feels like she wasn’t able to do what she wanted to and some of it was a little bit engineered.”

“She feels like she was a little bit restricted in what she could have done in certain situations.”
