Beauty queen Jessica Hayes has jetted across to Miss World – and now hopes to bring back the crown to Ireland.

The Cork native flew to London this morning, where she will stay ahead of the pageant final on December 14.

Before the final, the 20-year-old will spend the next three weeks meeting the other finalists and going to preliminary events.

However, Miss World will be missing Miss Honduras after Maria Jose Alvarado was found shot dead.

Before heading off, Jessica told Goss.ie that she has already started looking at the competition – and does expect it to be tough to win.

She added: “I mean obviously everyone is going to be stunning – it’s a beauty competition! So I definitely can’t wait to meet all the contestants when I am over there in person.”
