Barbra Streisand has broken her silence on the Melissa McCarthy Ozempic remark that sparked worldwide outrage.
The Funny Girl publicly accused the A-lister of taking Ozempic under her latest Instagram.
Bridesmaids actress Melissa McCarthy caught the attention of the Broadway star when she posted a snap of herself and her pal Adam Shankman to her grid.
The 82-year-old then left the bizarre comment under the 53-year-old’s post.
Melissa captioned the post: “Pastels only to honor the incredible @matthewbourne13 at the @ctgla gala last night with this fella @adamshankman !!”
“Thiiiiis much closer to my dream of dancing on stage.”
Barbra bluntly commented under the post: “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?”
An apologetic Barbra returned to social media on Tuesday and wrote: “OMG – I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday!”
“Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with my on Encore album.”
“She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!”
Melissa also spoke publicly on the remark and said: “Barbra is a treasure, I love her!”
The actress left the comment on Monday before quickly deleting the remark after receiving backlash.
One horrified user replied: “Wow really! What happened to not talking about Bodies? As a mother of a daughter that’s not ok we as women need to not focus on appearance.”
“I’m so totally taken aback that you could ask her that on Social Media for all to see. I love and adore you, truly, but that disappointed me.”
Another user said: “Whether she did or did not is no one else’s business.”
