Aideen Kate Murphy has made a candid confession about her fiancé’s proposal.
The popular makeup artist announced her engagement to her longterm love Dave Kelly earlier this month, after over 10 years together.
Dave popped the big question right before they went for a sunrise swim, and Aideen has revealed why she didn’t expect it at all.
The beauty influencer opened up about the happy moment in a new GRWM video, and explained how they had planned to go for an early morning sea swim with their friends Dean and Laura that morning.
Aideen admitted she wasn’t “one bit suspicious” because “doing stuff like that isn’t abnormal at all for us”.
Further proving she had no idea Dave was about to propose, Aideen said she had no tan on, unwashed hair, and was wearing a tattered old gym set.
When they made it down to the beach, Aideen asked their friends to take a photo of her and Dave in front of the sunrise – and that was the moment he got down on one knee.
The MUA admitted she didn’t know what he was doing until he opened the ring box, and she thought to herself: “Oh s**t, this is happening.”
Aideen then candidly confessed that she was so shocked over Dave proposing that she “can’t remember anything he said” in the moment.
The couple have been together for over a decade, and last October they took a major step in their relationship when they moved into their own apartment together.
Aideen and Dave, who grew up in the same area in Dublin, started dating when she was 18 and he was 22, and have been together ever since.
The couple had plans to emigrate to Australia together before the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, after their plans were interrupted, Aideen launched her own beauty brand True Beauty, and the pair now plan to stay in Ireland for the foreseeable future.
At the time, the couple were living in Aideen’s family home.
