Prince Harry has reportedly been forced to stay in a hotel, after his Windsor Castle request was allegedly rejected by the Royal Family.
The Duke of Sussex is set to visit the UK next week to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
However, the Prince will not be staying in Windsor Castle, after his previous requests to do so were denied.
Just last month, it was revealed that Harry’s primary residence had been changed to the US – cutting his ties with the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living in California since March 2020, when they quit their roles as senior working royals.
The change was revealed in a filing for the Prince’s sustainable tourism charity Travalyst, and showed the change was made on 29th June, 2023.
This is the same day that Buckingham Palace confirmed the Duke and Duchess had left Frogmore Cottage – their last home in the UK – following the release of his memoir, Spare.
As a result, Prince Harry does not have a residence in the UK anymore – meaning on his most recent visits he has stayed at hotels instead of Windsor Castle.
In September 2023, the Duke requested to stay on the grounds of the castle, but it was denied by the Royal Family due to lack of notice given.
He has not stayed in a royal residence since and is not expected to do so on his upcoming visit.
Meghan Markle is not joining Harry for the brief visit, instead, she is staying in the US to prepare for their unofficial tour of Nigeria – which is planned for days after.
Mail on Sunday’s Royal Editor, Charlotte Griffiths, spoke to GB News about the Prince’s visit, claiming that Megan’s no-show has likely left him feeling lonely – while dealing with the fractured relationship with his family.
She continued to explain that he would have “loved” to have his family by his side for the event, which will take place in St Paul’s Cathedral – where his parents were married.
The royal expert said: “It’s a really important part of Harry’s soul, and the kind of thing he’d want his wife, maybe even his kids by his side for.”
“Meghan is leaving him there alone, and I just think he’s going to cast a really lonely portrait of a man without his friends around him, without his family and without senior members of the Royal Family. And no wife there with him as well.”
