Voice of Ireland winner Brendan McCahey a huge FLOP as he sells just 300 copies of his album

Voice of Ireland winner Brendan McCahey is a massive flop – after selling just 300 copies of his debut album.

The Cavan singer was watched by more than 500,000 people as he won the RTE series in April.

However, the 37-year-old only managed to get to No20 in the Irish charts with his first album To Where I Begin.

He was beaten by David Bowie who went into the charts at No11, while he is only two places ahead of Kodaline’s debut album which has been in the charts for 75 weeks.

Sources told Goss.ie it was an “awful figure”, which follows on from the previous two flop winners of the show.

However his record label Universal Ireland said that Brendan – who was mentored by Bressie – had “done brilliantly”.

They added: “We don’t care how many copies he sold, Brendan still entered the Irish Top 20, competing with huge stars like Taylor Swift.”

Last year, The Voice winner Keith Hanley was a flop after his first single – released days after his win – only got to No37. It was revealed in August he was dropped after just six months.

Recently, Bressie attacked Voice of Ireland winners for being too lazy to go on and become successful.

He added: “What I always say about The Voice is when you win a show that’s not it. People have to stop believing that is it.

“It frustrates me when I see any act on any talent show thinking once they win they can sit on their arses. People get what they put into it.”
