Zayn Malik joins Entourage producers for new boyband show

Zayn Malik has made the jump to Hollywood.

His former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles crossed over from music to acting when he took a role in the WWI movie Dunkirk, which he is currently filming. Now Zayn has entered the movie industry as well.

A source told The Sun that the pop heartthrob has teamed up with the producers of Emmy-winning U.S. show Entourage to create a show about a boyband like 1D.

“This is a big deal for Zayn. He has been keen to get stuck into different projects outside of music and this is the perfect move.

“It’s a subject he knows lots about and he will call upon his experiences to advise the scriptwriters on the show. If the series does well, he’ll receive plenty of kudos in the industry,” the source said.

The show will follow the fictional boys from bedroom band beginnings, to landing a record deal, to becoming global superstars. After the show, the plan is for the actors to become real chart-topping musicians. Casting begins in LA next month.

The news comes days after Zayn expressed his interest in acting to ELLE. “I started acting when I was in school with theatre studies and then music came after.

“It completely stopped when I joined the band but I’d definitely be interested if I was given the right role.”

Zayn’s spokesperson has not commented on the reports.
