Taylor Swift reportedly threatens to prosecute Kimye for secret recording

Taylor Swift hasn’t told the whole story.

Turns out, the singer has known for months that Kim Kardashian secretly recorded Taylor’s call with Kanye about his controversial Famous lyrics – and she has threatened Kanye with criminal prosecution.

TMZ obtained a copy of a letter Taylor’s lawyer sent to Kim and Kanye back in February, which reads, “Demand is hereby made that you immediately destroy all such recordings, provide us of assurance that this has been done, and also assurance that these recordings have not been previously disseminated.”

A source “with direct knowledge of the conversation” told TMZ it was recorded in Los Angeles, and according to California law, it’s a felony to record a telephone conversation without the other party’s consent.

However, there’s some uncertainty as to whether Taylor has the right to sue, as it was noted that conversations that “may be overheard” aren’t considered secret – and can be recorded without the other person’s explicit consent.

In the video, famed producer Rick Rubin is spotted in the background, which could prove that the conversation wasn’t considered secret.

Kim spoke about the drama in an interview with GQ. She said she suspects a member of Kanye’s team called Taylor and told her about Kim’s recording of the conversation.

Prosecution: Taylor has threatened to sue Kanye

“She totally approved that,” Kim said. “She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t. I swear, my husband gets so much sh*t for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved.”

However, Taylor maintains that Kanye never told her about the lyrics that follow: “I made that b*tch famous.” The recording doesn’t show Kanye telling her about those lines.

Taylor said she has a problem with Kanye calling her a b*tch. “Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination.” Taylor wrote in an Instagram post yesterday.

However, even Tay’s Instagram post isn’t free from scrutiny. Due to the “Search” button being visible in the screenshot from her iPhone’s Notes page, some have accused her of penning the response a long time ago – long enough to have to search to find and screenshot it.
