Lucasfilm

A Star Wars film production company has pleaded guilty to two health and safety breaches at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court after Harrison Forde broke his leg on set.

The Han Solo star was crushed by a hydraulic door while filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens on set of the Millennium Falcon, at Pinewood Studios in the UK back in June 2014.

The actor was airlifted to hospital and underwent surgery after he was crushed by a prop that reportedly weighed as much as a small car.

Britain’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE) slapped Production (UK) Ltd, a subsidiary company of Disney, with four criminal charges due to alleged breaches of health and safety legislation.

The company pleaded guilty to two of the charges in court on Tuesday, and will be sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on August 22, according to RTÉ Entertainment.

Filming on set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens drew to a halt for three weeks after Harrison obtained his injury, but director J.J. Abrams later said the break in production actually helped him rethink part of the script.

Production for Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently going ahead in the very same studio, and is scheduled for release in December 2017.
