RTE to air documentary filmed entirely on an IPHONE

RTE is set to make history as they air a documentary tonight that was filmed completely in 4K on an iPhone.

The Collectors follows the lives of six diverse people who have dedicated their lives to, you guessed it, collecting.

“Great storytelling is what television is all about and RTE is always looking at new ways and new technologies to bring those stories to life,” Channel Controller of RTÉ One and RTÉ2 Adrian Lynch revealed.

It will be the first time any broadcaster has made a feature length film this way and RTE hope to continue to embrace the filming technique.

“The Collectors offers a fascinating insight into the world of Irish collectors but it is also a great example of how RTE is embracing new technologies to deliver innovative programming for Irish viewers,” he admitted.

“I’m delighted to see RTE leading the way in this exciting area and on the back of the documentary we’re now looking at doing a series for a young film makers using iPhones.”

The show is a one hour long and we get to peak into the lives of six individuals who collect everything from Barbies to comics to porcelain dolls and why they collect these certain things as a hobby.
