Sir Michael Caine has been forced to change his name, because of ISIS.

The 83-year-old, whose real name is actually Maurice Micklewhite, admitted that he had to officially change his name to his double moniker Michael Caine – due to amped up security in airports and confusion over the name on his passport.

“I changed my name when all the stuff started with ISIS and all that,” he told The Sun.

The actor admitted that he’s had to deal with hour-long wait times because of the name on his passport – so he finally decided to change it.

“He would say, ‘Hi Michael Caine,’ and suddenly I’d be giving him a passport with a different name on it.

“I could stand there for an hour. So I changed my name,” he said.

Alias: Michael has used a stage name since 1954 

The London native first stated using a ‘stage name’ back in 1954, but he first went my the name Michael White.

“One evening my agent said: ‘I’ve got you a job, I’ve got you three days but you can’t call yourself Michael White, so give me another name’.

“I was in a telephone booth in Leicester Square and I was opposite the Odeon and I looked up, and my favourite actor is Humphrey Bogart, and there it was, it said ‘The Caine Mutiny,’ so I said, ‘Caine! Michael Caine!’,” he explained.
