Simon Cowell forced to apologise to Rylan Clark

Simon Cowell has been forced to apologise after making a crude gay joke about Rylan Clark.

The Xtra Factor host was asking the judges to pick a door to choose which caller would then ask a question on the live show.

Rylan had said that he “loves a good front door” after which Simon said, “I thought you liked a back door.”

Judges Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne were visibly shocked by his comment.

However, Rylan took the comment in his stride and hit back saying, “Oh Simon! Shall I show you how much?”

“I apologise. I shouldn’t have said that. That’s why I should never do live TV,” Simon admitted shortly after.

The presenter also took to his Twitter to clear things up about the “joke between friends.”

“Genuinely wasn’t offended by Simon last night but understand some people might be,” he wrote in a screenshot note.

“It was just a joke between friends and meant extremely lighthearted but trust me I’m more offended by comments I get on social media every day calling me worse names by p****s sitting behind a keyboard.

“It was banter in this case and I personally wasn’t offended.

“Also I’ll get him to buy me a house in Ibiza whilst threatening to sue him… Win win.”
