Simon Cowell is backing a new crime docu-series, as he steps away from his usual projects.
The talent show boss’ production company Syco has teamed up with former policeman and reporter Mark Williams-Thomas, the man who exposed Jimmy Saville as a paedophile.
A source close to Simon told the Mirror, “He was introduced to Mark last year and they hit it off. They talked and worked on some ideas. This is the first to make it to the screen and could be the first of many. Simon is excited.”

Mark presented ITV documentary The Other Side Of Jimmy Savile back in 2012, which earned him an incredible three awards – including two Royal Television Society awards and the London Press Awards Scoop of the Year.
The four-part ITV series, The Investigator: A British Crime Story, is set to air next month and will re-examine the killing of Carole Packman, who disappeared in 1985.
Despite her body never being found, her husband Russell was prisoned for life back in 2004 for her murder.
