Popular Love Island star shocks fans by confirming role in Barbie movie: ‘I’m not making this up’

Love Island’s Chris Taylor has confirmed he landed a role in the upcoming Barbie movie, and had to keep it a secret for two years.

The 32-year-old confused fans at the London premiere of the film on Wednesday, as he was seen posing for photos with the entire cast.

While fans initially thought he was photobombing the star-studded cast, the reality star has since revealed he actually appears in the Barbie movie as a Ken.

Sharing photos from the premiere on Instagram, Chris wrote: “This WILL sound made up…but I’m in the ACTUAL Barbie Film 🤯 No bloody idea how, but here we are…I’m an actual Ken (I talk a lot of sh!te so swipe for evidence 😂)

“Wish I had more to say about this, but I still think I’ve imagined it. Thank you to the person who made this happen, you know who you are, you glorious ray of human sunshine 🌝.

“Anyway, Barbie is in cinema’s next Friday 21st July, get it booked and try not to blink for too long around the middle of the film, quick blinks 👍 I love you all,” he added.

In a post shared on his Instagram Story, Chris also revealed he had to keep the news a secret “for two bloody years”.

It’s unknown how Chris landed a role in the blockbuster film, which has already been dubbed the movie of the year, but Margot Robbie is a big fan of Love Island – so perhaps she had something to do with it.

The 32-year-old shot to fame on the 2019 series of Love Island, alongside the likes of Maura Higgins, Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury.

Chris went on to date Irish beauty Maura after the show, but they sadly split after just six months together.

The Barbie movie, which will be released in Irish cinemas on July 21st, stars Margot Robbie as the iconic doll, while Ryan Gosling plays her love interest Ken.

The satirical film will follow the titular character as she is expelled from Barbie Land for not being perfect enough, and sets off on an adventure in the real world.

The stellar cast also includes Nicola Coughlan, Dua Lipa, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Emerald Fennell, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Hari Nef, Ariana Greenblatt, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Rhea Pearlman, and Will Ferrell.

Will Ferrell, who plays a Mattel CEO in the film, has already called the project “the ultimate example of high art and low art” and “an amazing comment on male patriarchy and women in society”.
