Katy Perry has revealed that her own mother fell for AI-generated photos of her at the 2024 Met Gala.
The star-studded event took place in New York on Monday night, with the dress code being “The Garden of Time”.
While the singer is usually among guests at the Met Gala, the singer skipped out on this year’s event – despite AI pics of her on the carpet circulating online.
Taking to Instagram to set the record straight, Katy confirmed she wasn’t at the star-studded bash.
Sharing the fake photos on her feed, she wrote, “couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work.”
Also in the post explaining her absence, she shared a funny text conversation with her mother, who was also fooled by the pictures.
The text read: “Ha Feather! Didn’t know you went to the Met.”
“What a gorgeous gown, you look like the Rose Parade, you are your own float lol,” she continued.
Katy replied to her mom, joking: “lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!”
Many fans were hoping the singer would be in attendance, her last appearance being in 2022.
However, as Katy explained, she was busy in the studio working on what may be new music.
