Irish actors Andrew Scott and Jamie Dornan make their Met Gala debut

Andrew Scott and Jamie Dornan made their Met Gala debut on Monday night.

Attendees of the star-studded event were invited to celebrate the Costume Institute’s exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” – with the dress code being “The Garden of Time.”

The Irish actors attended the star-studded fundraiser for the first time, with Andrew wearing Versace and Jamie wearing Loewe.

The two stars ditched typical black suits for the carpet, and opted against safe choices.

The All of Us Strangers star walked the carpet with Donatella Versace, and wore a sleeveless blazer with a mesh top underneath.

The Ripley star posed for photos alongside Donatella and British actor Jude Law, who famously played Dickie Greenleaf in the 1999 movie The Talented Mr. Ripley.

It’s been a huge year for Irish actor Andrew, who received critical acclaim for his role in All of Us Strangers alongside Paul Mescal.

Most recently, he also received huge praise for his role as Tom Ripley in the Netflix adaptation of The Talented Mr. Ripley from Patricia Highsmith.

Last month he opened up about the heartbreaking loss of his mother following a short illness, which has made his recent success “bittersweet.”

The Dublin native paid tribute to his late mother saying “she was the source of practically every joyful thing in my life”, and confessed she was an inspiration for him to experiment with fashion.

Meanwhile, Jamie stood out at the Met Gala in a classic three-piece suit covered in beadwork from the fashion house Loewe, whose creative director is fellow Northern Irishman and designer JW Anderson.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star is an ambassador for the Spanish brand.

He spoke to British GQ about working with Loewe, and the fact its headed by an Irish designer.

He admitted: “I remember the first time hearing about this guy, JW Anderson, and being told that he was going to be a next big thing.”

“And I remember realising that this was the same JW Anderson that I knew from home.”

He continued: “For me, Loewe feels like home, and with Jonathan there, it’s a really cool thing.”

“Even at fittings for the Met Gala, hearing his Northern Irish accent among some really exotic people, it makes me feel really proud, to be honest.”
