Una Foden didn't mean to piggyback on Kate Middleton's pregnancy announcement

Una Foden has insisted she didn’t piggyback on Kate Middleton – by deciding to announce her pregnancy on the same day as the princess.

The Saturdays star revealed last month that she was expecting her second baby to join two-year-old daughter Aoife Belle.

But Una – who told yesterday that she was expecting a boy – insisted she didn’t mean to try and take over from Kate’s good day.

Instead the new Voice of Ireland coach had been hoping to only make the announcement now, following the end of The Saturday’s tour.

Expecting: But Una only planned to tell news now | HELLO

She said: “After our first performance, I checked my Twitter and every comment was, ‘You’re pregnant’. So it was clear that my bump was more obvious than I’d though.

“I decided I couldn’t hide back any longer. Our fans were starting to wonder why I wasn’t saying anything. I felt like the right time, so I woke up the next morning and had it all planned to send my tweet.

“Then I saw that Kate’s pregnancy had been announced. I certainly didn’t do it because she did. Kate had her news to share, I had mine and it was chance that it fell on the same day.

“Although, in a way she’s not a bad person to share the same day with – the future Queen.”

And Una admitted that she feels “very fortunate” to not be suffering from the same horrific morning sickness as Kate.

“I know that I’m very fortunate. Apart from a bit of tiredness in the first 12 weeks when I felt a little groggy, I’ve been absolutely fine, just as I was with Aoife,” she told Hello.

“I really feel for Kate and for any woman who goes through that because it must be so tough, especially when you have another child to take care of.

“I can empathise because there are other times during pregnancy when you feel anxious or scared. But touch wood, so far everything has gone really smoothly for me.”

“I’d actually been hoping to keep my news private until after the tour. It’s a very personal thing.

“And also, because I was pregnant with Aoife on the our last tour, I was mindful of people saying, ‘She’s always pregnant,’ even though that was three years ago, so I’d waited long enough.

“I was bursting to have another baby and Ben’s been broody since Aoife came out. But there’d already been some speculation I was expecting again.
