Tommy Bowe reveals his wife Lucy is preparing to return to work on the frontline

Tommy Bowe has revealed his wife Lucy is preparing to return to work on the frontline.

The former Miss Wales has been on maternity leave since last February, ahead of the birth of the couple’s second child Jamie – who was born in March.

Lucy will be returning to work as a nurse in Belfast, while Tommy continues to make the commute from Belfast to Dublin to present Ireland AM.

Speaking to RSVP Live, Tommy admitted it will be “tough” when Lucy goes back to work.

The 37-year-old said: “Lucy is still on maternity leave but she is looking to go back in next while.”

“She is a nurse so she will be going into the frontline which will be a challenge in itself. It is going to be a tough one for us.”

“The creches in Belfast are very good and they open the doors bright and early. Lucy will be doing the drop off and I will be picking up, that is probably how it will work for us,” he explained.

Tommy recently told Goss.ie that he felt “very fortunate” to have spent so much time with his wife and children due to the pandemic.

He said: “We were very lucky he was born just at the very start of the lockdown…”

“So I was able to be there for the birth, I was able to do all the scans and that sort of thing so we were really, really fortunate.”

“I was able to spend some real quality time with my daughter, which I never really would have had, and it meant that Lucy was able to cope with Jamie.”
