Eamon Farrell has revealed that his brother Colin found out he was gay when he went snooping for evidence under his bed.
The brother of the Hollywood actor never came out to his family because most of them already knew – however Colin wanted to do some detective work.
“Colin found a box under my bed, with a lock on it – which obviously meant break the lock!” he said.

“When he opened it he found copies of the Gay Times and the Gay Community News.
“He was always the little man in the family so he sat my mam and sisters down at the kitchen table when I was out and said he had something to tell them.”
“When he told them that I was gay, they all said they’d known for years,” he told The Sunday World.

“He’s still disgusted that he had to find out that way, I just forgot to tell him. God knows, I’d told anyone who’d listen!”
Meanwhile, Eamon has been busy canvassing for the Yes Vote for the marriage referendum on May 22.
While he describes himself as a “relucant activist” – he’s grateful for the positive reception he’s found.

“I have been involved on the pavement canvass, and of course I’ve been talking to hundreds of parents who come through our school [the National Performing Arts School] every week.”
“It’s been mostly very positive,” he said.
