The wife of RTE star Daithi O’Se has admitted their love first sparked when the TV presenter poked her on Facebook.
New Jersey native Rita Talty first met the Kerry native when she entered the Rose Of Tralee festival 7 years ago.
The 30-year-old moved back to the states after the competition but Daithy wasn’t ready to let her slip away.

“After the Rose Of Tralee, Facebook is how we connected a few months later,” she said.
“It started with a poke on Facebook. I think I kept popping up on the side of his page where it says suggested friends and we started messaging before we became friends.”
The American beauty, who tied the knot with Daithi in 2012, revealed she would always get excited when she got a new message from the Today Show host.

“With the time difference, I was always very excited to wake up to a message from him,” she told the Herald.
“Eventually we started meeting up when Daithi was working over in the States and that’s how it happened really.”
“It took a while, but we really got to know each other and it’s kind of special how it happened. It was almost like being pen pals.”

The pair welcomed their first son Michael Og in March of last year.
“Never did we think seven years ago that we’d be sitting here with a baby,” Rita said.
