Aisling O’Loughlin on her Xposé salary: ‘The money isn’t great’

Aisling O’Loughlin has revealed that her salary working on TV3’s Xposé isn’t great.

The presenter, who is currently on maternity leave after giving birth to her third child Joseph back in April, admitted that people working for RTÉ would have a much higher salary than her.

“TV has been brilliant to me. It’s a varied life and that’s what I like about it. The money may not be great but it’s a very varied life,” she told the Herald.

“Well we’re definitely not overpaid on Xpose, that’s for sure, but at least we have an interesting job.

“I think it’s RTÉ who get the big bucks,” she admitted.

The mum-of-three has been a part of Xposé since it premiered back in 2007, which has since welcomed new faces – including Cassie Stokes and Ruth O’Neill.

Speaking about Xposé’s new additions, Aisling said, “They’re flying it. It’s great to see fresh, young blood.

“That’s what’s great about maternity leave, I get to have a break and they get to jump in and go,” she gushed.

Aisling gave birth to her third child Joseph just seven weeks ago, and admitted that she struggled with breastfeeding.

“I lasted a week breastfeeding and then had to call it a day.

“It’s not something that comes naturally to me and it was torture.

“It’s not easy for everyone. For some women it happens easily, but it’s each to their own,” she admitted.

The Clare native revealed that she thinks women are unnecessarily judged by society when it comes to breastfeeding.

“In an ideal world you’d love to breastfeed, but it takes a lot of time and a lot of support, so sometimes it’s not feasible.

“Irish women are demonised for not doing it – it’s easy to mother-bash,” she added.
