Love/Hate's Aoibhinn McGinnity secret role: belting out Adele in a covers band

Love/Hate star Aoibhinn McGinnity has revealed her secret music passion – and is even in a band.

The Monaghan actress plays a magazine editor in new Irish film Poison Pen, which sees her singing in the flick.

And Aoibhinn revealed that beyond the movie – she is also a singer in a local band.

“I love singing. I did it in college and in between jobs,” she said. “I used to be in a band at home and I meet up with the guitarist and we do the odd gig in McKenna’s in Monaghan.

“I like singing blues and stuff by Adele. We get together and do some covers. It’s just fun for us and all familiar faces at home so it’s lovely to do that now and again.”

Meanwhile Aoibhinn also revealed “she is darker” in the new series of Love/Hate after swapping her blonde locks for her original colour.

She added to the Star: “The series is really strong. I can’t wait to see it myself this year. It’s very dynamic and a lot of unexpected twists and turns.”
