Jack Reynor opens up about his difficult upbringing

Actor Jack Reynor has got candid about the difficult times he faced when growing up in Ireland.

Speaking about the similarities his character John faced, the 23-year-old admitted that he had too lived on very little.

“There was quite a substantial portion of my life where I’ve lived very similarly to John and not had any money, and done things like put water in my milk to have my breakfast.

“Basically bear the weight of responsibility in my family. I’ve done those things and I know what those things look like from the inside,” he explained.

The What Richard Did star also revealed that he felt a very strong connection with Australian actress Toni Collette who plays his troubled mum in the Irish film.

“I already felt a very strong connection with her from watching the films that she’d played a mother in.

“When I was a kid, I felt the relationships mirrored my own relationship with my mother,” he told International Business Times.

The Transformer actor recently revealed he’s taking six months off acting for much needed break.
