Musician Tom Petty has died following a suspected cardiac arrest.
The much-loved singer was in critical condition after being found unconscious and not breathing after going into cardiac arrest
“EMTs rushed to his Malibu home and were able to get a pulse,” TMZ reported.
“He was rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and our sources say he was put on life support.”
In late August, Tom had canceled a number of shows for health reasons.
“With deepest regrets, we have just been informed that Tom Petty’s laryngitis has not improved sufficiently enough in order to perform tonight,” his management said at the time.
The singer then later recovered to return for a number of shows in California throughout September.
Paramedics rushed to the singer’s home in California on Sunday night after reports that he had been “found unconscious and not breathing”.
He was rushed to the nearby hospital in Santa Monica where he was put on life support.
His latest album, Hypnotic Eye, was released in 2014.
