Gwyneth Paltrow reveals ex-husband Chris Martin has become ‘like a brother’ to her

The pair announced their split back in 2014

Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that her ex-husband Chris Martin has become “like a brother” to her.

The 45-year-old appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in New York City on Thursday evening, where she opened up about her “familial” relationship with the Coldplay frontman.

Gwyneth and Chris announced their “conscious uncoupling” back in March 2014, and later finalised their divorce in July 2016.

After congratulating Gwyneth on her recent engagement to Glee creator Brad Falchuk, Stephen showed her an Instagram post from November of her, Brad, and Chris at brunch together, noting how close she is with her ex.

“Very much so. He’s like my brother. Very familial. It’s nice. Great,” she replied.

When Stephen joked that it was kind of weird saying someone you had children with is like a brother, Gwyneth replied, “Which would explain the divorce,” before adding, “Just kidding.”

When asked if their “conscious uncoupling” meant she and Chris were “more evolved” than everyone else, Gwyneth said, “Definitely not… divorce is terrible.”

“It was very painful and really hard. We genuinely wanted our kids to be as unscathed as possible,” she added.

Gwyneth and Chris were married for ten years before announcing their split in March 2014. The couple are parents to 13-year-old daughter Apple, and 11-year-old son Moses.
