Deirdre O'Kane to host 2016 IFTA Awards

Deirdre O’Kane is set to host the 2016 IFTA Awards.

The Moone Boy actress will take to the stage at the Round Room in Dublin’s Mansion House for the annual bash celebrating the best in Irish film.

The ceremony will take place on April 9 and will be broadcast on TV3 on Sunday 10th April at 9pm.

“What an honour to be asked to host the IFTA Awards especially on such a fantastic year for Irish film and drama,” Deirdre said.

“All the success abroad in this golden year means that it is especially important to recognise and reward these accomplishments at home and I am delighted to be a part of such a prestigious and significant event.”

Deirdre is no stranger to the IFTAs, having been nominated six times in the past since the awards began in 2003.

The Louth native won for Best Actress in a Film for her outstanding performance as Chrstina Nole in Stephen Bradley’s Noble.

Last year’s Film IFTA’s was hosted by Caroline Morahan while the TV IFTAs were hosted by Amanda Byram.
