Britney Spears ‘furious’ as judge orders her to pay dad Jamie’s $2m legal bills while receiving nothing

Britney Spears is reportedly “furious” as a judge has ordered her to pay her dad Jamie’s $2m legal bills while she receives nothing.

The Toxic singer has been embroiled in a vicious legal battle with her father following the aftermath of her conservatorship.

The singer was placed under a conservatorship after she suffered an alleged breakdown in 2008.

A conservatorship is granted to those who are incapable of making decisions, such as people with mental disabilities.

The arrangement put her estate, financial assets, and some personal assets under the control of her father Jamie, and lawyer Andrew Wallet – who later resigned from the role.

Following a lengthy court battle, Britney’s conservatorship was officially terminated by Judge Brenda Penny in November 2021.

Britney and her father Jamie

According to TMZ, on Friday, the mother-of-two quietly resolved her ongoing legal battle with her 71-year-old father.

According to the outlet, Jamie will not be paying Britney any money and his Everytime hitmaker daughter will be footing all of his legal bills in what is said to be a shocking turn of events.

The publication also reported that according to their sources Britney’s lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, assured her that she would win the case.

Alongside paying her father Jamie’s legal bills which are said to amount to more than $2million, the singer must also pay her own lawyer bill.

TMZ also reported that the 42-year-old has paid her lawyer Rosengart an eye-watering $4million for his “help” on the case.

In legal filings obtained by The Blast on Wednesday, Jamie wrote that his daughter has been using stall tactics to lengthen out the case.

He pleaded with the judge not to grant a stay in the case, which could result in postponing the trial to a later date.

Britney is also reportedly about to begin mediation sessions with her father later this month and Jamie has suggested that the singer is trying to stall the until after the mediation, even though he says it will likely be pointless.

“There is no reason to stay any portion of the case (as the Court acknowledged at the January 5, 2024 hearing) and there is certainly no basis for staying briefing or any other activity that in any way relates to Jamie’s pending summary judgment motion set for hearing on April 12, 2024,’ Spears’ legal team wrote in their latest filing.”

Jamie explained that he and Britney were unlikely to resolve their issues after spending more than two years without coming to an agreement.

#2The parties have had months (indeed, years) to discuss settlement. They have not settled. Imposing a stay simply because there is a February 23, 2024 meditation seems certain to result in a trial continuance should the parties not settle at mediation,” he added.
