TV3's Martin King: 'I opened up the door and let God back into my life'

TV3 presenter Martin King has revealed he’s found God again – thanks to his young son.

The Late Lunch Live presenter is now a regular mass-goer, after realising religion was the one thing missing from his life.

And Martin, 51, said he wouldn’t have made the crucial discovery without the help of son Alex, 11, a number of years ago.

He said: “Alex was in playschool and when that finished at noon I would collect him.

“But he always wanted to go into the church right beside the school and light a candle.

“So I’d sit there in the pew and think: ‘My career is going well, I have a wonderful wife and great kids, so is this what I’m missing?’ It was.”

He added: “And so I opened up the door and let God back into my life.”

Meanwhile, Martin told the RTE Guide that he very nearly became an accountant rather than TV3’s weatherman.

He added: “Maybe I should have stayed at school and done my Leaving Certificate.

“I was pretty good at business studies and bookkeeping and maybe I could have had a career as an accountant.”
