Robbie Williams reveals his most EMBARRASSING moment on tour

The singer booed the wrong crowd

Robbie Williams has revealed his most embarrassing moment while on tour.

The singer was chatting to Ryan Tubridy while on the Late Late Show about his new album The Heavy Entertainment Show and his upcoming Irish gig along with a friendly bit of chat.

“I was playing a place called Old Trafford in Manchester and it was my second night there,” he said.

The singer told the audience and Ryan that the first night of the gig was a big success and on the second night his “little mum” came up to him with a tap on the shoulder.

“She looks up at me and I said, ‘Are you alright?’ She said, ‘Yes, but last night when I was at the show I got up to dance and a man behind me said to sit the f*** down,'” he said.

“I said ‘That’s shocking mum. I’ll do something about that when I go on stage.’

“A minute and a half later, I’m [singing] and I’m really angry because my mum was offended. For the first three songs, they’re guitar songs and I’m really angry – I don’t have to channel any pretend anger, I’m really angry.”

It was at the third song that the father-of-two stopped and started talking to the audience at his gig.

“I say ‘Good evening ladies and gentlemen, my name is Robbie f***ing Williams. This is my band and tonight your a** is mine.’

“I said, ‘Now listen everybody, not only am I in the building tonight but my mum is in the building tonight. And you know what? She got up to dance at her son’s gig and a man behind her told her to sit the f*** down.’ And everybody goes ‘Boo,'” he added.

“I said, ‘Well that’s not happening tonight. Everybody stand up. If you wanna sit down go to a f***ing Sting concert.’ So everybody stands up and the whole of the audience stand up except for one section.

“I say ‘Ladies and gentlemen, the VIP section, we didn’t play for our tickets, we’re not gonna take part in the show, we’re not gonna stand up.'”

Boo: The father-of-two told the crowd to boo the section who weren’t standing up | YOUTUBE

The musician then said that he told the audience to boo the crowd that wouldn’t stand up, but it became really awkward really fast.

“So the whole audience looks round and them and they dn’t stand up. I said, ‘C’mon everybody boo them,’ and the crowd boos them. ‘Boo and point at them!’ I’m feeling really happy with myself,” he continued.

The 42-year-old admitted that his manager was signalling to him to stop talking and eventually revealed to him why the crowd wasn’t standing – fortunately, he had a quick save.

“It was the wheelchair section. This was pre-Youtube and the only way to get out of that is by singing Angels.”
