Barack Obama set to host festival at the White House

Barack Obama will be hosting his very own festival at the White House.

The U.S. President was inspired to create his own event after attending SXSW in Austin, Texas where he spoke in a keynote conversation.

At the White House there will be a host of arts and culture events happening for one day only with some big names set to perform.

South Lawn: Barack is to host the very first SXSL festival at the White House

The American Film Institute, the President’s Committee on Arts and Humanities, and South by Southwest are to come together for the day long festival that will take place on the White House’s South Lawn.

“On Monday, October 3, we’re celebrating that spirit of innovation with a White House event called South by South Lawn,” a press release stated for the event.

“South by South Lawn, an event inspired by South by Southwest, will bring together creators, innovators, and organisers who work day in and day out to improve the lives of their fellow Americans and people around the world.”

There will be music from well-known musicians as well as up-and-coming artists, panel discussions where people can openly talk about positive change, and film screenings submitted by American students around the theme of The World I Want To Live In.
