Kathryn Thomas would ‘absolutely not’ be brave enough for Operation Transformation

Kathryn Thomas has admitted that she would “absolutely not” be brave enough to compete in Operation Transformation.

While the Carlow native, who fronts the popular weight-loss programme on RTÉ, runs her own Pure Results bootcamp – she confessed that she would never be brave enough to be an Operation Transformation leader.

“If I got the phone call, would I be brave enough to do it? Absolutely not. I wish I was that brave, so I take my hat off to them,” she said.

The presenter is currently hosting the celebrity version of the show, which stars Gerald Kean, Elaine Crowley, Katherine Lynch, Karl Spain and Brenda O’Donohue.

While the celebrities have already seen great success on the show, with Elaine Crowley losing over one stone in two weeks – Kathryn admitted that plenty of celebrities turned down the opportunity because they were too scared.

“There were a lot of phone calls made – it was probably not the most comfortable phone call to get.

“It all came down to health, because Operation Transformation is about weight, but it is primarily a health programme.

“It’s about giving people tools to ensure long-term change. There were a couple of people who said ‘thanks, but no thanks.’

“A couple of others thought about it long and hard and then just said ‘I couldn’t do it – I’m not brave enough for that’,” she added.

Celebrity Operation Transformation has already gone down a hit with viewers, as it attracted over 400,000 for the first episode.
