John Whaite makes history as he’s confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing’s first ever all-male partnership

John Whaite has been confirmed for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Since winning the third series of The Great British Bake Off in 2012, the 33-year-old has written five cook books and presented a host of TV shows.

John will make Strictly history, as he will be part of the show’s first ever all-male partnership.

He said: “I’m so grateful, excited, and nervous to be joining the Strictly 2021 family. I’ve been wearing sequins and jazzy attire since I was three years old and can’t wait to hurl myself, full throttle, around the most glamorous dance floor on earth.”

“What’s more exciting for me, is that I’m going to be one half of the first all-male partnership, which is a great step forward in representation and inclusion.”

“Whoever it is I’m paired with, I hope they are up for a challenge as I want our routines to include lots of spectacular lifts!”

Last year, Olympian boxer Nicola Adams took part in Strictly’s first ever same-sex coupling, and she was paired with professional dancer Katya Jones.

McFly star Tom Fletcher, actor and comedian Robert Webb, and presenter AJ Odudu have also been confirmed for this year’s line-up.
