Prince William shares first update on Kate Middleton since her cancer diagnosis

Prince William has shared his first update on Kate Middleton since she revealed her cancer diagnosis.

In March, the Princess of Wales announced that she is undergoing treatment for cancer, which was discovered after she underwent abdominal surgery in January.

After taking some time off work, the Prince of Wales recently returned to his public duties – and has now shared a brief update on his wife.

As he attended the grand opening of James’ Place Newcastle, a suicide prevention centre for men, William confirmed the Princess is “doing well”.

A member of the public asked William: “Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?”

The Prince of Wales replied: “All doing well, thank you. Yes, we’re doing well.”

On March 22, the mother-of-three released an emotional video revealing her cancer diagnosis.

The 42-year-old said: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”

“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time.”

Earlier this week, William and Kate continued to show their strength as a couple, as the pair shared a stunning black & white photo from their wedding in 2011.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ Instagram account captioned the post: “13 years ago today!”

Last month, Prince William promised to “take care” of his wife during his first public engagement since she shared her cancer diagnosis.

After taking a few weeks off work for Easter, the Prince of Wales returned to work in April to offer a helping hand at food distribution charity Surplus to Supper in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey.

During his engagement, William met volunteer Rachel Candappa, 71, who handed him two get-well-soon cards addressed to King Charles and Kate.
