Britain’s Got Talent judge Bruno Tonioli opens up about ‘pressure to look good on television’

Britain’s Got Talent judge Bruno Tonioli has opened up about the “pressure to look good on television.”

The former Strictly judge has revealed that he believes men and women suffer the same pressure to look perfect.

The 69-year-old also added that social media has made beauty standards even more difficult for male stars to achieve.

Bruno told the Daily Mail: “I think it’s as bad for men as it is for women because of all this Instagram stuff, you know what I mean? Especially for young men – it actually is as bad as it is for women.”

“I’m still alive, it’s fantastic, it’s never been better, it’s just accepting what is.”

“I’m not going to let myself go. Of course I do my exercises, I look after myself as much as I can. But obviously I’m not 20, it’s good to keep fit and it’s good striving to keep fit.”

“You have to find, embrace and make the most of what you have at the time. Look at Clint Eastwood, look at Kevin Costner, he’s my age.”

“Look at Brad Pitt, he’s getting better with age. It’s about how you feel. In your mind you’re still 27, you can keep the spirit alive.”

“But ageing is a privilege. It means that you have had a long life, and should treasure it,” he concluded.

This year will be Bruno’s 40th year being in showbusiness, the Italian dancer got his first dance role at the Teatro Manzoni in Milan, in September 1974, and has long-insisted that he will never “retire.”
