Dermot O’Leary insists the X Factor isn’t rigged

The presenter came back to the show this year

Dermot O’Leary has insisted that the X Factor’s Jukebox Wheel isn’t rigged.

The 43-year-old, who reprised his role as the host of The X Factor this year, has defended the show after viewers suggested that producers are rigging the Jukebox Wheel, which decides the next week’s theme every Sunday night.

“Of course it’s not rigged,” he said about theme-generator.

The ITV host admitted that the wheel they spin isn’t at all fixed, and compared it to a hamster wheel.

“People kept saying to me, ‘Oh, it’s fixed,” he told Digital Spy about the controversy.

“It’s the most rudimentary hamster wheel you’ve ever seen in your life.”

Dermot also spoke about eliminated contestant Gifty Louise, who claimed the X Factor judges conspired against her.

“She was just a bit upset. You can understand why! She’s got a great voice. I don’t think she expected to be [in the bottom two.]

“She’s really popular from the crew and the team and the house [audience]. The [audience] really loved her!” he added.

“I think we were all a little bit shocked. It’s kind of impossible [to console the eliminees]. What are you supposed to say?

“You just hope they use the millions of people watching as a springboard and go on and do something with it. The amount of people I meet down the line who got to week three, four, five, six, seven and now they make music their career. So it is possible!”
