Keith Barry has recalled a dangerous stunt in which he nearly drove himself and Nicole Scherzinger off a cliff.
The Irish magician, hypnotist, illusionist and stuntman revealed he once drove a car blind-sided down a canyon road with the Pussycat Dolls star.
He told RSVP Live: “What I didn’t realise is that I drove about a centimetre away from the cliff edge and I was never supposed to go within a metre of the edge.”
“When we finished the drive Nicole said to me that we got so close to the edge she could have spit off it so if I had moved one centimetre in any direction, the two of us would have been gone,” the 45-year-old explained.
The mentalist added: “You fail loads. I failed live on stage in the Olympia Theatre one time when I was doing a 100ft rope escape.”
“It went wrong and I passed out on stage and ultimately I ended up having to pay two audience members a thousand euro because they won the challenge. Things go wrong but you learn from those and move on.”
He continued: “I’m human, so when you’re inventing magic tricks you don’t know whether it’s going to work or not, and if it doesn’t work out there’s always a backlash, which is fine.”
“I’ve kind of learned to be resilient to all that because ultimately I know the quality of my work speaks for itself and I’ve been around 25 years now, so I’ll allow myself to fail, I’ll allow myself to have those blip moments and move on.”
“Fear and excitement is part of that process, and then gratitude as well of course.”
