The Mayo native told Goss.ie that he was in London when the result of the referendum was revealed.
“I was in London yesterday during the vote, then I went to bed and I was watching the TV in my hotel room.
“It was very uncertain by the time I went to sleep and then to wake up to Brexit, it was a shock,” Rory admitted.
“I think to most people in London, it was a real shock, ’cause obviously London voted overwhelmingly to stay.
“I think it’s a mistake and the whole thing is just weird.”

The gay rights activist revealed that many of his UK friends are shocked by the outcome and Ireland is going to have a tough time.
“Certainly most of my UK friends are kind of devastated.
“I think Ireland is going to have some hard questions to ask itself because of our own special relationship with the U.K.
“I think the whole thing is a mess, and it’s so difficult to know how it’s all going to play out,” he added.
