‘Proud of our team’: Celebs praise Irish footballers after Euro 2016 exit

Ireland have crashed out of Euro 2016, losing 2-1 to hosts France in Lyon.

But that didn’t stop their army of celebrity supporters taking to Twitter to praise them for a fantastic tournament.

Ireland finished the game with 10 men after Shane Duffy received a red card and when France scored twice in three minutes, the dream was sadly over.

Things had gotten off to a winning start with Robbie Brady scoring from a penalty in the first few minutes to the delight of the Irish fans.

They managed to hold on to that lead until the second half and Vogue Williams was one of the many stars to take to Twitter to cheer on the boys in green.

Amanda Byram is currently taking part in an intense boot camp in Ibiza but managed to take time out from it to catch the action on TV.

She shared a picture of herself lying in bed watching the match and wrote: “Come on ireland!! Cheering on the #BIG from Ibiza.”

Nicky Byrne was feeling confident before the match and even took a cheeky dig at Thierry Henry.

And his wife Georgina shared a picture on Instagram of their twins Rocco and Jay with their hair painted red, white and orange for the big match.

MTV presenter Laura Whitmore continued to party up a storm in Glastonbury but donned an Irish jersey for the day.

And Ronan Keating insisted he was proud of the Irish team no matter how things ended.
