Meghan Markle and Prince Harry narrowly avoid mid-air crash on private jet

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly had a scary near miss while travelling on a private plane.

The couple were aboard a private aeroplane which was cruising at 200mph and 4,000ft above Luton airport.

Also in the airspace was a drone which was flying at four times the allowed height for that type of craft, according to The Sun.

The plane carrying the beloved royals avoided a mid air crash with the illegal drone by a mere 10 feet, according to reports.

The mid-air miss is the one of the most narrowly avoided in-air incidents in UK recorded airspace history.

The incident took place in August of this year.

Former BA pilot Terry Tozer told The Sun: “The damage could have been really serious. If a drone hit the windshield it could kill or incapacitate at least one of the flight crew.”

“It could also be ingested into an engine with a similar outcome to a bird strike. These types of incidents are going to be an increasing problem. It’s a real concern for pilots.”

“Stricter regulations have been brought in but you will always get people who don’t care about the rules.”

“It’s very difficult to know how we are going to control drones.”
