Radio host Tony Fenton has admitted he can’t wait to make his big return to Today FM.
The popular presenter has been off work for for aggressive chemotherapy for prostate cancer. But Tony, 53, has revealed he’s coming back to radio next month.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on radio and that will be in four weeks’ time,” he said.
“I’m chomping at the bit, I really cannot wait. It’ll be just me again, back on as normal.”

But Tony admitted he has asked Today FM to make some changes to his popular show.
“I’ve asked my producer about making changes on our show too. You can’t go too different. Breakfast is about traffic, news, weather and a bit of comedy.
“Then it’s papers and talk, so by the way it gets to the afternoon people want to hear good music – nothing too taxing,” he explained.
“I think the trick as well is to know your audience. They want to hear strong live bands and competitions.”

Meanwhile Tony said he is looking forward to some new presenters at the forefront of Today FM, after Ray D’Arcy announced he was switching to RTE Radio 1.
Speaking at the launch of The Killarney Music Festival at Dublin’s L’Ecrivan restaurant, Tony said Ray leaving is a good thing and he is looking forward to Anton Savage’s new show.
“When Ray announced he was leaving I just thought that it would be a good opportunity for us. I thought, ‘Let’s put somebody great in there,’ and Anton is certainly the man.

“He knows that audience and filled in for Ray quite a bit, so I think he’ll be great at nine o’clock. Anton is warm, the audience know him and they’ll embrace him.
“I don’t see it as a negative at all, it’s a positive. They should shake up the programme. Ray usually came on with the paper review and brought everyone down with that.
“So Anton will not be doing that. I’m looking forward to seeing it shaken up. Morale is brilliant in there and everyone’s looking forward to Anton starting in two weeks’ time,” he explained.
