Jordan North left ‘blindsided by news’ of his Radio 1 departure

Jordan North was reportedly left “blindsided by news” of his Radio 1 departure.

The presenter stepped down from his Going Home show after a decade on the station to replace Roman Kemp on Capital FM.

Following Jordan’s announcement, it was revealed that former Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing would be taking his place.

In revelations by The Mirror, the outlet claimed that the news Jordan was leaving the show was a “shock to him.”

It has been reported that the information about his departure “was issued without his knowledge in chaotic scenes.”

The publication claims that he unknowingly presented his last episode of the show by the time his departure was announced.

Tensions in Radio 1 had reportedly been high “for months” leading up to his departure after he let bosses know he wanted to leave.

The source told The Mirror: “Conversations were going back and forth between Jordan’s people and the top people at the BBC for months, and over time they deteriorated.”

“Once he formally requested to leave, that was it – he was off air, immediately.”

“It’s a shame it ended on such a bad note after 10 years.”

However, Jordan rose above the reported drama and posted a gushing tribute to Radio 1 for his “wonderful” time at the station.

The 34-year-old wrote: “Hello everyone 👋 I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my wonderful colleagues / talented producers at Radio 1 who many I consider to be friends for life and will miss greatly, you’ve all reached out to me over the past 24 hours and it really has meant a lot.”
