2FM star Ryan Tubridy has told of his delight at plans to finally erect a memorial for his late colleague Gerry Ryan.
RTE bosses have commissioned a plaque for outside the studios the larger-than-life star used to broadcast from.
And Tubs admitted he can’t wait to be at the tribute unveiling alongside Gerry’s wife Maura and family – making sure the presenter is never forgotten.

He added: “Gerry should always be remembered in RTE and I’ll be there when this Gerry tribute is unveiled, saluting a dear friend who should never be forgotten.”
Bosses previously insisted they are only spending €5,000 on the memorial, after claims it was to be a six-foot tall statue.
And Tubridy told the Irish Sun that he backed the plan for the memorial “100 per cent”.
He added: “Gerry was not just an iconic figure in Irish broadcasting, for me he was a mentor and a close, close friend.”
Following Gerry’s death he took over his slot on 2FM but has seen more than 100,000 tune out from its heyday.
