New chapter! Mairead Farrell is engaged AND she's leaving The Ray D'Arcy Show

Radio presenter Mairead Farrell has revealed she’s engaged to boyfriend Louis Ronan.

The TV personality announced he proposed two weeks ago this morning on Today FM.

She said: I haven’t done a tap of work this morning. Myself and Louis got engaged almost two weeks ago.”

“I would have laughed and told the world but he’s the sensible one and he said ‘let’s just tell our families and relax and put our phones away’.

“[My son] Dara is the best man. His first question was brilliant: ‘How much do you get paid for being best man?'”

Earlier after leaving work, Mairead made sure to keep her ring finger covered when she caught by snappers.

But that’s not the only exciting news for the mum-of-one – as she is set to leave The Ray D’Arcy Show and join Ian Dempsey’s breakfast show as a producer.

Mairead is taking on the new challenge after working alongside Ray for ten years at the station.

She said: “I’m moving on from the Ray D’Arcy show to just 15, 16 feet away to be the producer of the Ian Dempsey show.

“It’s very tough leaving here, but its been something on my mind for a while.

“Dara’s growing up like a flash before my eyes. I’m able to pick him up from school every day now.

“I had to make a change. I’m really excited cause they have a brilliant team over there but I’ll be really sad leaving.”

Mairead, 32, was previously married to marketing executive Eamon Fitzpatrick, but split in 2010.

The Today FM star has been dating Louis since 2011. Recently Mairead said she would love to have a little brother or sister for her son Dara.

“I hope to have more. I think there’s eight years left in this old dog yet. It would be nice to have a little brother or sister for Dara to play with. But not that soon.”
