George Hook stunned as thieves POST back items they robbed from his house

Radio star George Hook is thanking his lucky stars after thieves posted back items they stole off him two weeks ago.

The Newstalk presenter and RTE radio pundit had his house burgled in Dublin, and was left utterly bereft at the loss off his property.

But this morning, the 73-year-old said “Incredible – my stolen credit cards, driving licence etc all arrived in the post this morning – no note – thanks to the sender.”

And George said he was extremely impressed with how efficient gardai acted at the time of the theft.

He said: “I was impressed with the speed that they came and handled the whole thing. I got a real sense that they cared. You feel secure with them around.

“The interesting thing really is we do all the things we should after they happen to us. I’ll never leave my briefcase in the car again.

“Last year my home was burgled and then I go off and buy an alarm. In one sense, it’s not the end of the world, you’re just ‘p***ed off’ about it.”

But previously George said he does feel that Dublin has become a “fairly lawless city”.

“We live in a fairly lawless city, and the gardai, it’s not their fault. They are under staffed and under funded,” he said.

“When they burgled my house, and it’s the same when they burgled my car, it’s a sense of violation.”
