Keith Duffy hits back after Louis Walsh tells Boyzone to give it up: 'He just wants press for his new band'

Keith Duffy has hit back at Louis Walsh – after he told Boyzone to quit the pop world.

The X Factor judge claimed last week the man band need to retire as they are “a bit beyond it now”.

This came after the group’s Motown album gave them their lowest debut on the album charts in the band’s history.

But Keith, 40, has rebuffed his ex-manager’s words and claims that the TV judge is just trying to make headlines.

Not bothered: Keith wants to ignore Louis’ comments and focus on panto

“Anytime Louis needed press for his new band he comes out and slags us off. He’s been doing that for 20 years,” he told the Herald.

“It’s water off a duck’s back to me at this stage, we’ve got a great fan base, I don’t know if it’s growing but our fans are very loyal. We played all these open air gigs in the UK this summer and they were all sold out.”

He added: “But we’re not pushing ourselves down anybody’s neck, we’re here if you want us.

“There’s no reason to say ‘leave while you have some dignity’. I have plenty of dignity thanks very much.”

He was drafted in to Jack And The Beanstalk after Twink was dramatically sacked.

Kind: Ronan wants ex-manager Louis to start ‘being nice’

Fellow Boyzone star Ronan Keating has also responded to The X Factor judges slams telling him to “be nice”.

“The easiest way to get into the press is to speak ill of someone. Paper never refuses ink. There’s enough heartache in the world. Be nice,” he said.

Meanwhile, Louis is currently taking the Irish charts by storm once again with his new band Hometown hitting number one their first week in the charts with their hit single Where I Belong.
