Jamie Lee Curtis teases Freaky Friday update following Lindsay Lohan’s confirmation of a sequel

Jamie Lee Curtis has teased a Freaky Friday update following Lindsay Lohan’s confirmation of a sequel

The hit film debuted in 2003 and saw Jamie Lee and Lindsay play mother and daughter who accidentally switch bodies and are forced to live each other’s lives.

The 37-year-old actress who played Anna Coleman previously revealed that the highly-anticipated sequel is “in the process.”

Lindsay told PEOPLE that she was “just excited to work with Jamie again and see how much further we can take it.”

“Because we talk almost every other day in general, so I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with this.”

However, Lindsay could not reveal too much about the filming or script of the movie.

Jamie Lee took to Instagram to tease snippets of the film making process with fans of the hit Disney film.

The 65-year-old posted a selfie of her with the red-headed actress on what appears to be a film set.

The actress captioned the post: “DUH! FFDEUX!” a nod to Freaky Friday 2″

Jamie also shared a movie still from the 2003 hit of her and Lindsay after they realised they had switched bodies.

The film celebrated its 20th anniversary last year and Jamie Lee brought up potentially making a sequel to the hit film.

In an interview with the New York Times last year, the 65-year-old reflected on the hit film: “As I went around the world with Halloween Ends, people wanted to know if there was going to be another Freaky Friday.”

“Something really touched a chord. When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’”

At the time, Lindsay added that the two were “both open” to a sequel.

“We would only make something that people would absolutely adore.”

Freaky Friday is based on the 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers.
